Today is the first of many to come.  Healthcare, like life is constantly changing.  I am going to do my best to give you my insight, and ideas on how to receive the medical services you need.  Today, more than any time before. The patient must be informed. You must have an idea of what you need or desire, and you must ask questions.  The resources and services out there are amazing, but knowing about them, and using them takes an active participant in their own medical health. The first skill more than any, I feel someone experiencing a medical illness, or new diagnosis, must develop is research.  Become an active pursuer of information and knowledge.  Secondly, become a good listener.  I don’t want to hurt your feelings, but the majority of Humans on this planet, know very little about how their body function.  Most healthcare workers know some, and others are experts.  So, you have been living in your body your whole life.  Its time to learn how it works, and the best way to do it is to put your preconceived ideas aside and start listening.Thirdly,  make sure you are getting plenty of sleep, eating well (limit the carbs, eat plenty of fruits and veggies, getting activity at least every other day.  Managing your physical health is one of the best ways to work through a stressful time. Question?  How do I have any idea about these things? My name is Mark Andrew Smith, and I have been a physical therapist for 12, going on 13 years.  I have worked in every environment available to a physical therapist, and am an avid researcher, tinker, ponderer, and creator of art and now a website. As well as, being a family man, traveler, runner, hiker, and practicing yogi. I rose to the top of my field very quickly and have been growing and learning by tinkering with my knowledge ever since.Several quotes from recent clients; ” I have had many therapists over the years for all my injuries and surgeries, and you are the best one I have ever known.”   ” He knows how all these muscles and tissues are supposed to work, and he makes me work them. He is tough, yet gentle. He reads my body, and how I respond to it. He takes me to limits I didn’t think I could achieve.”My purpose has been to help people return to their life, with happiness, energy and confidence.  Each injury is an opportunity to explore and learn something about ourselves.  Thank you for taking the time to read.  I hope you come back again and again.markmarks@housingandhealthcare.com
